A trip with the family is always something that everyone looks forward to. Every family deserves a little time to unwind, relax and enjoy each other’s company. This family trip, we planned on visiting Guwahati. Since both me and my husband are working, it was initially a little difficult for us to find some time out to make this trip, but finally we planned it out. The kids were so excited, as we got ready to head off to our family holiday to Guwahati.
Journey from Bhuwaneshwar to Guwahati; Guwahati Express
We decided to take the 7.55 pm train to Guwahati from the Bhuwaneshwar station. The journey was a long one, taking an entire day on the train. Surprisingly, the Guwahati Express treated us really well! The on board food was tasty and the train journey was smooth and hassle free. The kids were able to sleep peacefully through the night as we reached Guwahati the next day within the speculated time period.
Travelling from one state to another on almost two opposite directions of the country was pretty exciting. The sights we saw from our train window were mesmerizing. We reached Guwahati by 9 pm the next night, right on time for a hearty dinner at our hotel.

Ginger Guwahati Hotel
We reached this beautiful hotel called Ginger Guwahati hotel which was very clean, luxurious enough for a good night’s stay and had very hospitable hotel staff that really looked after us. We headed right off for a hearty dinner at the hall downstairs after which we got a much needed good night’s sleep. We had an exciting day planned ahead.

The sights; Kaziranga National Park, Fancy Bazar, Regional Science Centre
One of the most famous World Heritage sights; Kaziranga National Park was our first stop. It was simply astounding to see the wild animals in their natural habitats, at such a close proximity to us. The park is well maintained and the animals looked happy, which made us happy as well.
The entire park extends to an astonishing 40 kms. With some persuasion from the kids, we decided to cover the entire park that day itself. It was simply an incomparable experience.
Since we were too tired that day, we headed back to our hotel, and after an amazing nights rest, headed for our second destination on day 2; Fancy Bazar.
As the name suggests, the bazar was really fancy! It had everything you could look for in a market place. From clothing, to gifts, to restaurants, you name it. We had the time of our lives exploring the market place, finally settling on a traditional restaurant inside the bazar area for a meal of hot momo’s and thupkas. Being a part of the locals, eating their food, enjoying their company made us really feel a complete experience from this trip.
Our last day and our final destination was at Regional Science Centre. This was a more educational trip planned for the kids but we all ended up learning a lot. The centre was very well maintained and we learnt a lot from our half day trip there. Overall, our family trip to Guwahati was certainly a most memorable one.
